What does an interior designer really do?
You may’ve heard a designer friend complain about how certain home shows make design seem like it happens in two seconds for two dollars with no more than two nail-biter near-devastating setbacks (for the drama of course), with plenty of pillow chopping and lampshade adjusting for good measure.
But what does an interior designer really do? What does it entail if not a little razzle dazzle, a few paint swatches and bookshelf styling?
Good design is a meticulous process, technical precision, clear communication, stewardship of hard-earned cash, organized logistics, and people - so many people - all of whom need to know who’s on first, what time they need to be on second, who recognize that a disgruntled designer will be on third if things don’t go as discussed (or as close to it as possible).
To help clearly convey what full-service interior design entails, we put together our Design Process Preview - a powerful tool we use during consultations and share with our realtor and architect friends, gallerists, contractors and builders who refer us.
As usual, it includes Essentials Only. Feel free to share it with clients looking for design help or your team to help articulate what an interior designer can do for a space - and how much potential can be unlocked with some guidance.
Send to a friend and we’ll be sure you look like the hero you are!
Coming soon, a new page turner from Book Club (for email subscribers only - subscribe here!), our occasional share of the “too long; didn’t read” version of something good I’m reading so you can feel like you read it too (and reap some of the benefits), whether you choose to grab a copy or not.
Sending my love,
Leah
p.s. We’re wrapping up a project I can’t wait to share with you. Here’s a look! These are a few of our favorite things you’ll see when we’re done.
